So what is numerology?

It’s the study between a mathematical measurement (or count) and life. In other words, it’s how you can predict what is going to happen in your life, based on a series of mathematical calculations.

One of the most common methods to begin a numerology reading is to take a person names, which have been proven to bare a significance on a person’s life, and apply a series of calculations to that name. It’s quite a complex process, which has evolved over the course of few thousand years, so for me to go through it right now would be extremely difficult.

That is why, if you are somebody that is interested in having a numerology reading, then you should visit numerologist.com by clicking the link below:

I remember back in the old days (10 or so years ago), if you wanted a numerology reading, then you would have to book an appointment with a numerologist. The cost of which was quite considerable, luckily, you don’t have to do that any more. In fact, you can have a professional numerology reading for under a hundred dollars.

Oh and before I forget: my name is Diana and I have been a passionate supporter of numerology for last 10 or 20 years (that’s before it became cool haha). The first time I had my reading done, I was extremely sceptical, that was until what I was told came true. I don’t really want to reveal exactly what it was, as it was quite a personal thing, but what I can tell you is that I am a strong believer.

So if you are somebody that wants to experience a numerology reading, if you want to understand the reason for your existence, then I strongly urge you to go and check out numerologist.com

You can do that by clicking this big link: >> Click here to visit Numerology.com <<

Once you’ve done that, all you need to do is enter your name and email address and they will send you all the information that you could possible want. It’s really that easy, all you need to do is start.

As you can see, I am quite a passionate supporter of numerologist.com and recommend it to just about anybody that wants a numerology reading. If you can find a better website, then please tell me about it (I don’t think there are any better ones out there, trust me I’ve checked).

Naturally, people seek answers to deep-set mysteries. They want to know what causes them to act certain ways, or to make specific choices that end up having far-reaching ripples through their lives. There are many ways that people search for these answers, from behavior studies and philosophy to ancient disciplines like numerology. Exactly what is this discipline and how can it be used to help understand personal actions and habits? That is exactly what is being explored here so read onward.

When someone studies the relationship between a count, measurement, pattern, or number assignment and various factors of living or individual actions that is at its root numerology. There are many different ways that numerology is performed and nearly every major culture has its own take on how it should be done. This means that for the student or practitioner there are many options for interpretation of the results and what the ultimate answers are. This does not invalidate any single system, but rather shows how complex human nature really is. Finding this insight into what the numbers mean can help cope with many complex issues.

Someone who practices numerology is termed a numerologist. Numerology can be used alongside astrology or other divination methods, although it typically looks to provide a foundation not to predict the future. A true numerologist is not someone who uses patterns to or methods to play the stock market or study patterns in science although popular media often confuses the two.

The History of Numerology

The roots of modern numerology reach back deep into the past, encompassing Babylonia, ancient Greece and Egypt, Hebrew and Gnostic faiths in the west, and Vedas in India, ancient Chinese medicine, and other cultures in the east. One should note that while number meanings vary by language and culture, 7 is considered lucky by a broad number of people across the globe. It is one of the few universally positive numbers.

For those in the east, number meanings and associations are often the product of sound. This means that numerological uses for these numbers will vary from language to language even if the calculation rules are the same across the unifying culture. On the other hand, western assignments are based on individual characters not overall word sounds. Ancient Greek philosophers viewed mathematical systems as having greater reality because of the ease of classification that such systems provided. It was theorized that the language of numbers was the divine and universal language in which truth was hidden.

This concept survived into the early centuries of the Christian church. Not only did the Gnostic groups embrace it, but many early saints touted it as well. While the main church tried to distance itself from the Babylonian, Greek, and Gnostic viewpoints, they still held that numbers held divine power. Such can be seen in the writings of Irenaeus who dealt with the number of the beast (666) in conjunction with the word “Lateinos” and 888 in connection with “Jesus”, Saint Ambrose who cemented the number 7 as a positive number for the west, Augustine who believed numbers shed light on mysteries and meanings, and many others besides. Although the Church attempted to reduce the use of numerology after 325 AD, the popular notion of it has always held appeal.

This shows in the 1658, The Garden of Cyrus by Thomas Browne that dealt with the universally apparent digit of 5. This was followed by a number of other works that appeared throughout the centuries. Mrs. L. Dow Balliett is often credited with the current survival of western numerology because she studied ancient Greek meanings and combined that with surviving Biblical references. Her followers published her work in 1972 along with additional improvements and understandings.

Methods of Numerology

There are a variety of methods used to analyze the meanings of numbers and words to help make sense of personal goals and foundations. These systems can be used together or apart to help someone understand what makes them unique.

Alphabetic systems assign value to letters in the alphabet. These systems encompass many languages and cultures.

Abjad (Arabic)

Each letter has a numerical value and can be studied through Ilm-e-jaffer or ilm-e-haroof methods.

Gematria (Hebrew)

A Cabbalistic discipline that reveals numbers for each word or name based on the dual use for symbols in Hebrew for both letters and numerals.

Roman Chaldean

Based on ancient Babylonian numerological rules, it holds that the digit 9 is sacred. Base assignments are based instead from 1 through 8 and 9 is only seen as the results. Single digit results are viewed as outside influences while double-digit ones are internal.

Pythagorean

Named for the philosopher who viewed numbers as symbols. This system is actually derived from Gematria roots. Using translations from Hebrew to Latin allows Latin letters to be assigned a logical numerical value.

Generic

This basic system relies on letter placement and reduction to showcase where each letter sits on the numerology chart. It is considered the easiest to learn because it relies on the naturally taught letter order to place them from 1 through 9.

Indian

This method uses larger numbers than most, from 1 to 31 and includes the planets as well as letters.
Phonetic or Sound-based Numerology. Number meanings are derived from associated sound and similarities to other words. Many Asian cultures have a form of this type of numerology

Chinese

Uses local language variations to determine lucky numbers by sound, including number combos. Cantonese, Mandarin, and Hong Kong all have different lucky and unlucky number combinations. Often considered part of Traditional Chinese Medicine as number analysis is important to determining energy flow and proper correction methods.

Numerology clearly has many different methods to select from. No single one is better than another. Which method you begin with should be directly determined by what appeals to you regardless of you reading the numbers for yourself or for others.

Doing a numerology reading really is not difficult, as many of the meanings are very accessible and easy to remember. While you can order a numerology session with a professional reader, this discipline is one of the few that is readily done by anyone willing to study the information. Here are a few of the better-known methods and what the numbers mean in each of them. You may be surprised at how accurate doing your own reading really can be.

The Meanings of the Numbers

Every system has slightly different takes on how they define the numbers, and yet most western ones agree on the general meaning and tone of a number. Here are the common core meanings for 0 through 9.

0 is the often ignored number, standing in as a paradox for nothing and everything all at the same time. One may see 0 as untapped potential and equate it with the symbolism held within the Tarot Fool card.

1 is the self, the Yang element, masculine and individual. It can be the aggressor or the leader, standing for both someone who is original and independent as well as the unity found within a group that has strong solid leadership. It is the Dominant. 1 is symbolized by the Magician or Magus Tarot card and often called Divine Purpose.

2 is representative of the female element, Yin. It is balance, union, partnership, receptivity to ideas and companionship. It may be viewed as neutrality between opposite sides, diplomacy, and someone who seeks to see all sides. 2 is the follower who provides the leader with what is needed to lead. The High Priestess Tarot card symbolizes 2.

3 is communication, creativity, self-expression, innovation. It can express expansion, growth, and the joy in pleasure, beauty, and companionship. 3 is the root of current possibility and represents those things that are social, entertaining, and diverse. The Empress Tarot card symbolizes this number.

4 is creation, the process of building up and providing dependable support. It represents the seasons, predictable time, and order. It is nature incarnate, earthy and rooted in practical needs. 4 can be seen as work, stability, endurance, and discipline. The Emperor Tarot card holds all that 4 means.

5 is zest for life and a need for experience, action, and movement. Often seen as the number of travel, freedom and versatility. Those who document their stories, enjoy sharing experiences through the written form, or seek adventure are often ruled by this number. The Hierophant Tarot card rules 5.

6 is responsibility, gathering of family, desire to heal, teach, or counsel. Biblical reference make this the number of harmony, truth, justice, and environmental balance. 6 overflows with love and compassion and draws to itself those who seek what it provides. The Lovers Tarot card represents this number.

7 is thought, spirit, metaphysical. It is those who seek divine answers, looking always for the route to illuminate mysteries and learn new things. 7 prefers solitude at times, as this is required in order to clearly understand the world around on a higher level than most perceive it. Desiring to share this experience with a select few, those under this number will often seek those who share similar elevated viewpoints. It is the Chariot that rules the number 7.

8 is often seen as power or sacrifice, but it also stands for money, wealth, or career standing. As a symbol 8 is infinity, constant and immutable. 8 controls itself and demonstrates that control in such a way as to command respect of those around it. Not only is 8 destined to be showered with wealth but it also commands recognition and prestige. The Justice Tarot card symbolizes everything that 8 stands for.

9 is sacred, the highest number. It holds each of the other numbers within it. It is selfless, and compassionate. It loves universally and unconditionally. The power it holds comes from the endless ability to give and serve others with timeless tolerance and patience. 9 is the Hermit Tarot card.

The Systems for Calculating your Numbers

Start with your birth date. This gives the “Life Path Number” or Destiny reading. The basic system shows how this is done and all other methods follow this without fail.

Example: Birth date of March, 15, 1967 would break down like this:

3 for the month

15 would be 1+5 or 6 for the day

1967 would be 1+9+6+7 = 23, 2+3 =5 for the year

add these together, 3+6+5=14, 1+4=5

5 would be the life path number, which can be referenced above. Try your own birth date to see what your life path number is.

The next most valuable tool would be name analysis. Full name like this is a “personality” reading. There are several methods for this practice. Using a standard chart you would look at the placement of each letter in the alphabet and reduce those to single-digits, then add those together, reducing until the final number is reached. Chaldean methods do not use 9 in their placements for letters.

Example in standard: Devin Lee Smith. Standard listing:

1= a, j, s; 2= b, k, t; 3= c, l, u; 4= d, m, v; 5= e, n, w; 6= f, o, x; 7= g, p, y; 8= h, q, z; 9= i, r

4+5+4+9+5+ 3+5+5+ 1+4+9+2+8 =64, 6+4=10, 1+0= 1

Example in Chaldean: Devin Lee Smith. Letter meanings:

1=a, i, j, q, y; 2=b, k, r; 3=c, g, l, s, 4=d, l, m, t; 5=e, h, n, x; 6=u, v, w; 7=o, z; 8=f, p

4+5+6+1+5+ 3+5+5+ 3+4+1+4+5=51, 5+1=6

As you can see, the method used gives a different answer, and taken together, one can learn a great deal about themselves. A heart reading would only use vowels in the name and combination of these to create the purpose number will yield still more information.
